My enthusiasm for styling others started when I worked at a quaint designer boutique throughout my fours years of college. I held previous retail positions before then, but I loved the intimacy and personal interaction that a small boutique provided. I no longer live in San Diego but still help her buy for her store, Beyond the Beyond Boutique.
LA Market occurs five times a year where both domestic and international buyers go to Los Angeles to visit clothing and accessory showrooms and buy goods for their stores for the upcoming season. Companies both small and big are present at these shows offering buyers a wide range of product for their shops. In August, most lines are showing product that will hit stores in October, November, December and early January.
Comfort is key when you are on your feet all day. That meant flats all the way. To hide the fact that comfort was a priority, I chose my leopard print smoking slippers which are lined with sheepskin. A denim dress makes for an easy and cool option (especially in Downtown LA in August) complete with some gold bling for a little glam.
The first day was all about jewels.
Virgins Saints and Angels are coming out with a lower priced line for Holiday (all pieces will retail for less than $150) which makes getting these gorgeous pieces much more affordable!
Vanessa Mooney had an extensive collection filled with pieces inspired by the tribal and geometric trends and nailed the usage of mixed metals.
However, one of my favorites from VM were these dainty but statement-heavy necklaces.
Tai Jewelry stayed true to their DNA of layering uber delicate pieces to create a personalized and feminine look.
After a long day of shopping we ate tapas and headed over to The Falls for some live jazz and cocktails. Can every Monday be like this?
Tomorrow I will discuss what we shopped for and what I wore on Day 2.
Thanks for stopping by!
